You have a chance through the referendum proposed by Resolution 99 to reaffirm the current law which incentivizes traditional marriage. Resolution 99 does NOT change existing law. It does NOT discriminate against the alternative family groupings permitted by current law. Moreover, in common with the existing law, it does not incentivize ALL behaviors.
You can assure for the future that the responsibility for defending marriage from judicial activism rests squarely in the hands of the people.
You have a chance to avoid returning to the defense of marriage every time politicians with an agenda, backed by activist groups, try to modify the Civil Code.
You can restrain judicial activists’ attempts to incentivize unnatural or pernicious behavior by incremental modifications of the current Civil Code.
You can avoid the hidden costs which result when government privileges lifestyles which have pernicious social and medical consequences. As consumers, you know hidden costs get translated into higher taxes and prices.
You can avoid the loss of freedom which results when governments create bureaucracies and “human rights tribunals” (as in Canada) to investigate and jail all those who believe that government should not incentivize ALL lifestyles or, who believe that certain behavior traits are intrinsically disordered and should not be compulsorily taught in the schools and kindergartens (as in the UK).
